Baseline Survey in maternal & child health care in Achham and Bajura
SWAN is conducting a baseline survey and feasibility study to determine the current status of maternal and child health care services, nutrition, economics, water and sanitation in Acham and Bajura distrcts. Four staffs with public health education background have been hired to conduct a baseline survey from 1st of April to the end of August 2023.
SWAN staffs are conducting a thorough baseline survey utilizing standardized questionnaires that include key variables. SWAN will conduct a survey in the health facilities and households of the Achham and Bajura district. Subsequently, this partnership will implement projects in following areas to sustainably improve health, prevent disease and foster local economies as per the needs and priorities indicated by the baseline survey:
- Upgrade existing healthcare system with a focus on maternal-neonatal health services.
- Address water supply, utilization and purification system and sanitation.
- Address nutritional deficiencies of the population.
- Create opportunities for local economy and income generation.
Global Envirotech Initiative (GEI) will be the funding partner and Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) will be the technical partner, whereas SWAN Nepal will be the implementing partner for this project.
“Remote and geographically isolated regions like Achham and Bajura district have limited access to health care, education, nutrition, and economic opportunities. Therefore, this baseline survey will provide the detailed data required to develop new projects that addresses the unique challenges and needs in these areas. We are committed to working in partnership with our donors, technical partners, and the local government to introduce and implement projects that foster sustainable and holistic development in Achham and Bajura districts.”
