Livelihoods

Access to livelihood opportunities is key to breaking the cycle of poverty. In the Nepali context, gender-based violence, dependence on subsistence farming, limited access to jobs and markets, and deep-rooted social norms continue to keep women marginalized and economically vulnerable.

Our goal is to enhance the social status of women by promoting diversified livelihood opportunities, thereby fostering self-reliant and resilient communities. SWAN empowers rural and marginalized communities with skills, resources, and opportunities – enabling women to achieve financial independence, confidence, and a dignified life.

OUR APPROACH

-Providing training on alternative and off-seasonal farming and goat raising programmes.
-Empowering marginalized women through trainings on leadership and financial literacy.
-Providing vocational trainings such as tailoring & weaving for financial independence
-Helping women’s group to establish livelihood centers which serves as training, social entrepreneurship and eco-tourism.
-Promoting local markets, exhibitions and supply chains including transportation, storage and packaging.
-Encouraging local governments to provide matching funds for a project.
