SWAN-supported Primary School Block Inaugurated

 

Kathmandu, 24 October 2019 – The newly constructed primary block of the Shree Birendra Secondary School was inaugurated on 24 October 2019 at the school premises amid a function.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Ram Chandra Joshi, Mayor of the Kushma Municipality, Shiva Poudel, Chair of Ward no -11, Krishna Karki, Founder and Chairman of SWAN Nepal, distinguished guests from Innerwheel Deutschland Distrikt-90, local people, teachers and students. Around 100 people were present at the inauguration ceremony, which also included singing and dancing by students.

The event was formally inaugurated with unveiling the plaque by Krishna Karki, Founder and Chairman of SWAN Nepal and three women representatives of Innerwheel Deutschland Distrikt-90.

Monika Khatri, a 9th Grader gave the welcome speech and extend gratitude to the donors for providing them an opportunity to learn in a safe and permanent school block consisting of six classrooms.

Addressing the event, Krishna Karki, Founder Chairman of SWAN Nepal said, “it feels delighted to help rural schools and the community to keep children in safe and permanent classrooms.” He further added, SWAN believes that the school will now focus on providing quality education for children.

 

 

The representatives of Innerwheel expressed their joy to witness the permanent new building block for school children and extend their best wishes for students and teachers.

Ram Chandra Joshi, The Mayor of Kushma Municipality said, “it’s a matter of pride to the Municipality to be a part of the reconstruction while also seeing the school children having access to child-friendly classrooms.”

“The successful completion of the project through a Co-funding approach has accomplished a significant result and impact could serve as an encouragement to other stakeholders to replicate a similar approach,” stated Ramesh Bom Malla, Chairman of School Management Committee (SMC).

The school building of the Shree Birendra Secondary School was damaged by the Nepal Earthquake 2015.
