Education

Access to quality education for low-income families is a far-fetched dream. Nepal’s literacy rate is lower in the rural areas and especially among the female population. Many schools are underfunded, overcrowded and lack quality with high student dropout rates. The private schools that are in the urban areas of Nepal are not affordable and accessible to the children from low-income families. This just contributes to the ever-widening gap between the rich and the poor. However, we have learnt and experienced firsthand that only education can help people overcome stereotypes, poverty, and unemployment. Therefore, SWAN intervenes several programmes over the years to address this issue.

SWAN continues its mission to ensure quality education in community schools to help underprivileged children across the country.

SWAN’s Strategic Education Work-

– Provide quality education through a scholarship support for the holistic development of underprivileged children.

– Strengthen the community schools through construction and renovation, installation of safe drinking water system, and logistics support.

– Empower teachers, school management committees, and parents through training such as early childhood development (ECD) training, primary level teachers training, parental education and so on.

– Support children education during the emergencies.
